City of Goose Creek

Hannah Cox was elected to Goose Creek City Council in 2020.

A U.S. Navy Veteran, Councilmember Cox moved to Goose Creek in 1999 for the Navy Nuclear Power Training Program. While in the Navy she was a Nuclear Electrician’s Mate and served as Navy Chief, a Nuclear Power Training Unit Instructor, and an Engineering Officer of the Watch.

Councilmember Cox currently works as an Operations Manager for a local, job-creating defense contractor that provides counter terrorism support to Military and Law Enforcement Agencies. She previously served as an ambassador for the EOD Warrior Foundation, which helps our country’s Wounded Veterans.

Public safety will always be a top priority for Councilmember Cox. She will work to keep our community and families safe by ensuring our Police and Fire Departments are highly responsive, well-trained, well-equipped, and properly funded to recruit and retain the highest quality workforce possible.

As a job-creating businesswoman, she understands the importance of fiscal responsibility and plans to apply her skillset on Council. She has pledged to ensure infrastructure not only keeps up with, but also gets ahead of, future growth. With a commitment of cutting red tape and recruiting job-creating businesses to Goose Creek, the necessary resources for infrastructure improvements can be realized through new business revenue, while a live-work-play environment can become more attainable for Goose Creek residents.

Councilmember Cox is married to Air Force Veteran and current South Carolina Representative Brandon Cox, who also formerly served on Goose Creek City Council and Berkeley County Council. She is the mother of three children: Doug is a firefighter/paramedic in Georgia, Ashley serves in the U.S. Air Force, and Nathan is a student at Stratford High School.
