Tennis Lessons for Youth!

Classes are held at the City of Goose Creek tennis courts located at  300 Hamlet Circle in Goose Creek.


Tennis Clinics---Fall 2022

Two 6- week sessions will be offered.

Session 1:  8/29-10/10 (No clinic on 9/5 Labor Day)

Session 2:  10/24-12/12 (No clinic on  10/31 & 11/21)

Cost: $72.00 Residents  $77NR

Rain Dates: Make-up classes will be scheduled based on Instructor availability.  NO REFUNDS will be offered if participants are unable to attend any makeup class.

 

Beginners (6-8yrs) Mondays 4.00pm-5.00pm (min 4, max 12)

Students will continue to develop their motor skills and general athletic skills. Basic techniques will be introduced for forehands & backhands, and students will learn simple footwork while tracking the ball. Students will improve their hand-eye coordination & tennis skills through team games & cooperative drills with an emphasis on teamwork & sportsmanship. Beginners will be played on a 36- foot court using red low compression balls. A 21 or 23 inch racket is appropriate for this class.

 

Beginners/Adv. Beginners (9-15yrs) Mondays 5.00-6.00pm (min 4, max 12)

Students will continue to improve their hand-eye coordination and general athletic skills.  Stroke fundamentals will be taught for the forehand, backhand, volley & serve.  Games and cooperative drills will be used to continue improving tennis skills and rallying will be introduced when appropriate.  During this clinic, students will transition from the 36-ft court to the 60- ft court using both red & orange tennis balls.  Depending on the student's height, a 23, 25, 26 or 27 inch racquet will be appropriate.  Please speak to instructor for more racquet information.

 

Intermediates (9-15) Mondays 6.00-7.00pm (min 4, max 8)

Students in this clinic will already be comfortable with groundstroke and serving fundamentals and will be able to sustain a short rally.  Participants will continue to improve stroke techniques and consistency, with much of the emphasis on improved rallying.  Students will learn how to score and will also become more knowledgeable with the rules of the game.  This clinic will be played on a 78ft court with both orange & green dot balls being used.  Depending on the student's height, a 25, 26 or 27-inch racquet will be appropriate.  Please speak to the instructor for more racquet information.
