Session I: September 13th-October 18th
Session II: November 1st-December 13th
Students will continue to develop their motor skills and general athletic skills. Basic techniques will be introduced for groundstrokes and serves, and students will learn simple footwork while tracking the ball. Participants will learn the first stages of cooperative tennis through self and partner rallying skills. Beginners will be played on a 36- foot court using red low compression balls. A 21 or 23-inch racket is appropriate for this class.
Students will continue to develop their strokes & rallying skills while using individual, paired, and team activities which will aid in developing both cooperative and competitive skills. During this clinic, students will transition from the 36-ft court to the 60- ft court using both red & orange transition balls. A 23 or 25-inch racket is appropriate for this class.
Students in this clinic will already be comfortable with groundstroke and serving fundamentals and are able to sustain a short rally from the baseline. Participants will continue to improve stroke techniques and consistency, while also learning singles point play. Students will learn how to score and will also become more knowledgeable about the rules of the game. This clinic will be played at a 78ft court with both green dot and regular (adult) tennis balls. Depending on the students' height, a 25, or 27-inch racquet will be appropriate.
