The City of Goose Creek officially opened the doors of its newest cultural destination, The Creek Collective, on Wednesday, May 28. The center located at 222 St. James Ave. will serve as the premiere venue for the arts in Goose Creek, offering a vibrant space for creativity, community, and cultural enrichment.

The Creek Collective will host a wide array of programming, including art classes, book signings, rotating art exhibitions and special events celebrating art in all its forms. Visitors can view and purchase original works by local artists through regularly updated gallery showcases.

Wednesday’s opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Greg Habib, City officials, and members of the local arts community. The event celebrated the transformation of the building—formerly a wedding chapel—into an art-focused facility that still retains much of the chapel’s architectural charm.

“We don’t talk about art,” Mayor Habib said. “We actively create it. The Creek Collective represents a milestone in our commitment to supporting the arts and giving our residents a dedicated space to experience and celebrate creativity. This is more than just a building—it’s a space where culture, community, and creativity come together.”

In addition to its regular programming, The Creek Collective will be available for private event rentals, including weddings and special celebrations, maintaining the warm and inviting character of the original chapel.
