City seeks to fill Zoning Board of Appeals, Cultural Arts Commission vacancies

The City of Goose Creek is seeking volunteers to serve on its Cultural Arts Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. The deadline to apply for the current openings is Monday, Jan. 18, 2021.
The City is seeking to fill four vacancies on its Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).
The ZBA is a volunteer board made up of seven members appointed by the Mayor and City Council to serve three-year terms. Board members must reside within the City limits of Goose Creek. Requirements include having a general knowledge of the City, the ability to make independent judgments, and the commitment to prepare for and attend the meetings. The ZBA meets as needed to hear appeals of administrative decisions made by the Zoning Administrator, requests for variances from the zoning ordinance, and requests for conditional use permits. Other special meetings and workshops may be required. Meetings usually begin at 6:30 p.m. and are held at Goose Creek City Hall, 519 North Goose Creek Blvd.
The City is seeking to fill five current vacancies on its Cultural Arts Commission (CAC).
The CAC is a volunteer board made up of seven members appointed by the Mayor and City Council to serve two-year terms. Board Members must reside within Goose Creek’s city limits, have demonstrated their civic interest and general knowledge of the City, and be prepared to attend meetings and special events. The mission of the CAC is to identify, present and sustain cultural arts initiatives to enrich the lives of Goose Creek residents and visitors. The CAC meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Goose Creek Community Center, 519A North Goose Creek Blvd. Members also volunteer at special events and festivals sponsored by the Goose Creek Recreation Department during the year.
