The City of Goose Creek has climbed to 8th in South Carolina in total population.That’s according to the latest data from the US Census Bureau, which released its 2016 population estimate this week.

The city's estimated population is 42,039 – a nearly 17 percent increase since 2010. Goose Creek is now ranked between Summerville in seventh (49,323) and Sumter in ninth (40,723).

The top 10 most populous South Carolina cities are: Charleston (134,385), Columbia (134,309), North Charleston (109,298), Mt. Pleasant (84,170), Rock Hill (72,937), Greenville (67,453), Summerville, Goose Creek, Sumter and Hilton Head (40,500).

Out of the top 10 cities, Goose Creek’s population has grown faster since 2010 than every city except Mt. Pleasant. The city’s last seven annual population estimates are: 36,685 in 2010; 37,864 in 2011; 39,075 in 2012; 39,976 in 2013; 40,692 in 2014; 40,945 in 2015; and 42,039 in 2016.
