  • Jul 27 2018

You're invited to take part in the City of Goose Creek's annual American Red Cross Blood Drive. The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Municipal Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10.

The public is encouraged to make an appointment to donate by calling City Clerk Kelly Lovette at (843) 797-6220 ext. 1113, emailing City Clerk Kelly Lovette, or visiting www.RedCrossBlood.org online and entering sponsor code CityofGooseCreek. Save time by visiting www.RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass to complete a pre-donation reading and answer health history questions. The Rapid Pass can only be used on the day of the appointment.

Giving blood is an easy and quick way to make a life-saving difference. This year, donors are asked to consider double red cell donation (RBC). It can make twice the difference for patients in need. Double red cell collection is an automated process that safely allows for the collection of two red cell units rather than one. A machine facilitates the collection of red blood cells while the donor’s plasma levels are maintained. Donors with type O negative, O positive, A negative or B negative blood are strongly encouraged to consider giving a double red cell donation.

A free American Red Cross Blood Donor App is available on mobile devices. Text BLOODAPP to 90999* or search Red Cross Blood on the App Store or on the Google Play store.

City of Goose Creek employees who take part in this year's blood drive will earn one wellness hour, and all participants will receive a $5 Amazon E-Gift.
