May 15: 

Goose Creek City Hall will reopen to the public at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 18. Please note that our drive-thru remains open for water bill payments and other City business for those residents who do not wish to interact in person.

The City’s Department of Public Works will reopen to the public on Monday, May 18. 

Municipal Court update: No court sessions are scheduled, and none will take place, for the remainder of May. A tentative date of June 2 has been set for Municipal Court cases to resume.

Goose Creek Recreation facilities – including the Community Center and Activity Center – remain closed. A Recreation update will be made as soon as possible, and announced here. All passive areas in our City parks are reopened.

Crowfield Golf Club has reopened to the public, including non-City residents and non-members. Additionally, the club’s bar and grill has limited inside seating available, as well as outside seating.

Mayor Habib encourages everyone to continue to vigilantly practice social distancing. We will continue to monitor the latest COVID-19 data, and any further updates will be shared here. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

May 12 Recreation Update: Passive areas at several City parks were reopened on May 11.  This includes the green spaces, picnic tables, park benches, etc. The playgrounds will remain closed until further notice.   

All other recreational facilities will remain closed until May 31.

April 24: Municipal Court update: All jury trials for the month of May have been continued to a later date. All bench trial hearings that are scheduled from May 4  to May 15 have been postponed.

April 23: Recreation Update: City of Goose Creek Recreation Department facilities are closed, and will remain closed until at least May 15, 2020 due to the ongoing health pandemic. All of our Spring sports have been cancelled. Recreation facilities, athletic fields, parks, playgrounds, outdoor basketball courts and swimming pools remain closed during this time. Our outdoor tennis courts are open. Our walking trail, including the trail behind City Hall are also open. If you have any questions, please contact the Recreation Center at 843-569-4242.

Here are more details regarding our Recreation programs:

• Summer basketball registration has not yet been scheduled; when a decision is made regarding a summer basketball season, we will announce it here.

• The Spring Concert Series at Crowfield Golf Club has been cancelled. Options for future make-up concerts for later in the year are being explored.

• Any participants who were registered for a Spring sport will receive a credit for the total registration amount for a future athletic program, or any other program offered by the Recreation Department in the future. If you have any questions regarding your child’s registration fee, please contact the Recreation Department at 843-569-4242.

April 16: Crowfield Golf Club will reopen for play beginning tomorrow (Friday, April 17). The Club’s bar and grill will also reopen with take-out only service.

The golf course and driving range will be restricted to City residents and golf club members. 

“After speaking with Gov. McMaster and gaining a better understanding of his plans moving forward, and actions he has already taken, I believe that reopening our golf course is prudent at this time," Mayor Habib said. "The golf course will reopen for members and residents only. Social distancing remains in place.”

April 8: Crowfield Golf Club, including the driving range and bar & grill, and all Recreation facilities in the City, are closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. We will update any additional schedule changes here.

April 2: Because of the latest Covid-19 data, Crowfield Golf Club has updated its policies regarding course play. 
Beginning tomorrow (Friday, April 3), the course will remain open, but will be limited to residents of Goose Creek as well as all of our existing golf club members. This policy will include access to the driving range.

April 1: Thank you to all of our Goose Creek residents and businesses for your continued compliance with all recommendations concerning the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Here are several suggestions we are sharing with our local business community:

* Make sure your customers have enough space to be properly separated at check-out
* Make the aisles in your store one-way to decrease cross-traffic
* Provide all customers with hand sanitizers and/or wipes
* Institute curbside pick-up if possible
* Designate certain hours during the day for vulnerable customers to shop safely
* Clean and sanitize shopping carts and baskets between every use
* Limit occupancy to, at most, half of what is normally allowed

Here are more details regarding our Recreation programs:

• Open Registration for Pre-School will be delayed until May 4.
• Fitness Memberships: For everyone who had an active membership to the Fitness Center on March 15, 2020, that membership will be extended by the number of days we are closed.
• Gymnastics/Tumbling, Dance, Karate/Martial Arts, Hip-Hop, and Pre-School programs on monthly payment plans: no fees will be due for April or May. We realize most of our participants have paid for the entire month of March and once a firm re-open date is determined, arrangements will be made for those classes to be made up.
• Fitness Classes – for those participants who paid for the entire month of March, their next month’s payment will be pro-rated at 50%.
• Rentals and Party Packages – if you have made arrangements for a facility rental or party rental for April, a staff member will be contacting you to reschedule your event or process a refund.
• Continuing Education classes like Piano, Art, STEM, Ballroom Dancing: once a firm re-open date is determined, arrangements will be made for make-up classes. We are also researching virtual classroom instruction opportunities.
• Youth Athletics – The Spring Season for baseball, softball and soccer will be postponed until April 30th. We will make a final determination closer to that deadline.
• Special Events – The Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 4 and the Adaptive Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 5 are cancelled.
• Summer Basketball registration will be open online only.

March 25 Update: All Court cases scheduled between March 23 and April 30 have been postponed until May 1 at the earliest.

March 22 Update: All City and Neighborhood parks and pools have been closed. This does not include the walking trail behind City Hall.

Because of the ongoing coronavirus threat, and in light of Gov. McMaster’s March 15 order to close all South Carolina schools, the City of Goose Creek has made the following changes effective immediately:

All previously scheduled public meetings — including City Council, Planning Commission, Architectural Review Board and Cultural Arts Commission — have been cancelled. Any special-called City Council meetings prior to the regular meeting scheduled for April 14 will be announced and publicized on the City’s website and sent to the media. 

All City of Goose Creek Recreation facilities, including the Community Center and Activity Center, are closed to the public through at least the end of March. All sports activities, programs and other events are cancelled, and no events will take place until April at the earliest. 

All City water payments, permit applications, and business license payments will only be accepted at the drive-thru window at City Hall. Other than the drive-thru window, City Hall is closed to the public. Please note that water will not be shut off for non-payment as long as the state of emergency is in effect.  A missed payment will not result in a resident’s water being cut off. 

All Municipal Court proceedings, including jury trials, are postponed until April at the earliest. Court payments will be taken at the window inside the Municipal Court building. 

Crowfield Golf Club will remain open for play, but the bar and grill will serve take-out only, and there will be no congregating in the clubhouse, pro shop, or patio area. All golf carts will be sanitized and disinfected between rounds. 

The City will continue to closely monitor this situation, and will update the public via our website and social media as often as needed. We encourage all residents to continue to also stay updated through both local and national news outlets. 

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control has set up a line for public inquiries about coronavirus. That number is 1-855-472-3432 and is available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
