Jerry Tekac left his home in Ohio in 1998 seeking a small town near the resources of a large community where he would be able to raise his family. He found what he was looking for in Goose Creek.

"The City staff and City Council have done a great job in balancing growth with preservation of the City’s character. They’ve also made sure that Goose Creek citizens have outstanding essential services," said Tekac.

Mr. Tekac is a graduate of Heidelberg College in Ohio. He has been with the National Bank of South Carolina since 1998. He has a degree from the South Carolina School of Banking and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. He is currently a Board Member of the Greater Summerville Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce and is presently the Vice-Chairman of Finance.

Before being elected onto City Council, Mr. Tekac was a member of the City’s Planning Commission for eight years. As a commission member, he saw first-hand how passionate community members are about what they want for their community.

"I am looking forward to working with other councilmembers to achieve a balance between growing the city and expanding the services that our citizens receive. I have a great deal of respect for what City Council has accomplished and hope that I can provide them insight from a fresh point of view."
