Capt. David Aarons has been employed with the City of Goose Creek Police Department since 1996. He left briefly in 1997-1998 to work for the Charleston Police Department, but then returned to Goose Creek.
Capt. Aarons graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a Bachelor of Science Degree in business administration. He then worked in several management positions with United Parcel Service from 1989-1995, at which time he moved to the Charleston area. He completed police training for the Goose Creek Police Department Reserve Program and then accepted a full-time position with the agency in 1996. After graduating from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, Capt. Aarons was assigned to the Patrol Division as a patrol officer and later became a field training officer. In 2001 he was promoted to Patrol Corporal and later promoted to Patrol Sergeant. In 2003 he was promoted to Lieutenant – Special Operations Division Commander. This position was reclassified to the rank of Captain in February, 2009.
As the Special Operations Division Commander, Capt. Aarons is responsible for the Special Response & Tactics (SRT) Team in the capacity as the team commander, department training, community oriented policing, crime prevention, the communications center, school resource officers, animal control services, and the building maintenance services.
Capt. Aarons is a certified instructor in civilian and law enforcement applications of Krav Maga, a hand-to-hand combat system. Capt. Aarons was named the City of Goose Creek Employee of the Year in 2001. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, in addition to owning and operating a commercial janitorial business.
