With 18 years of experience in Public Works, Steve Price came to the City of Goose Creek in 1999 as the Director for the Goose Creek Department of Public Works.

“Goose Creek offered me the challenge of managing a complex department for one of the fastest growing cities in South Carolina,” said Mr. Price.

As Director of Public Works, Mr. Price supervises the approximately 40 employees that make up the Department and is responsible for all aspects of public-works services. This includes overseeing engineering projects, sanitation operations, water services, code enforcement; maintenance of City vehicles and the landscaping of City property.

Under the supervision of Mr. Price, the Department of Public Works has developed a more business-like approach to providing basic City services. This new approach ensures that the City of Goose Creek provides efficient and cost-effective services with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.

“It doesn’t matter if a citizen is a rate-payer or a tax-payer,” said Mr. Price. “Everyone we deal with is a customer.”

Mr. Price hopes to continue expanding the services provided by the City of Goose Creek while maintaining the high quality of current services.

“As a Department, we have to keep up with the City’s growth,” said Mr. Price. “We are constantly trying to find ways to improve.”

In addition to his 18 years experience with private utility companies and municipalities; Mr. Price holds an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Horry-Georgetown Technical College and an Associate’s Degree in Science from Trident Technical College.
