Finance Director, Ron Faretra works to ensure that the City of Goose Creek stays financially sound.

“Goose Creek has a history of financial stability,” said Mr. Faretra. “I help the City maintain that strong financial base.”

Mr. Faretra is responsible for the management of all budgetary aspects of the City of Goose Creek. This involves supervising the collection of revenue and keeping department expenses consistent with department budgets.

His duties include the design and maintenance of accounting systems and the supervision of the Municipal Court and Administrative Department personnel.

As the Finance Director, he also serves on the Management Information Systems Committee, which focuses on the current and future computer/technology needs for the City.

While acting as the Finance Director for the City of Goose Creek, Mr. Faretra has purchased new software for financial accounting, court payments, payroll and utility billing. These upgrades have improved the City’s record-keeping abilities and efficiency.

He has implemented online-bill payment through the City’s Web site, along with bill payment through direct debit. Online-court payments and business-license processing will soon be added to the City’s Web site.

“I want to make it as easy as possible for the community to do business with the City,” said Mr. Faretra. “People should think of using City services because it’s convenient, not because they have to.”

Ron Faretra holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education and two Associate’s Degrees in Traffic Management and Business Management. He is a retired Chief Master Sergeant, serving 27 years in the United States Air Force.

While in the Air Force, he served as the Accounting and Finance Officer as well as the Defense Finance and Accounting Officer for the Charleston Air Force Base. He served as the Deputy Regional Finance and Accounting Officer for the Osan Air Base in Korea.

“Working for the City of Goose Creek, I can utilize all the skills I learned in the Air Force” said Mr. Faretra.
