B. Meeting Summary

„X Mr. Ben-Yisrael updated the Committee on the status of the community surveys. There were 906 surveys received both via mail and the website. The survey period has just ended, and the results are being turned over to the COG staff for analysis. He gave a brief overview of the preliminary findings.

„X Rob Caison and Jessica Gillis summarized the findings from the visioning workshops. They noted the specific results from their analysis of workshop input as submitted by each of the workshop facilitators, summarizing what the participants stated were positive attributes of the city as well as what the citizens saw as opportunities for improvement. They noted that depending upon the respondents' perceptions, certain issues were reported as positive attributes by some participants and opportunities for improvement by others. As the Plan progresses, these findings will be discussed in more detail and matched with the nine Plan elements. There was brief discussion about the interpretation of the citizen input and insuring that the results are accurately reported versus being broadly interpreted with perhaps a Planning bias. Workshop participants assured the committee that these were actual responses received at the workshops.

„X Mr. Caison and Mr. Ben-Yisrael reviewed city boundary and land use maps. There was discussion about using these maps throughout the Plan process to determine areas for preferred future development, use, and growth. It was also noted that these maps will assist in studying how other municipalities and properties outside the city could and will impact the city in future years.

„X The committee was asked to review the boundary maps for further discussion at the next workshop. Also, they were each requested to submit photographs, via email - 10 photos that illustrate a positive feature of the city and 10 photos that represent an opportunity for improvement.
