Municipal Court Court

The Municipal Court is an independent branch of City government as established by City Council and is responsible for the administration of justice within the jurisdiction of the City. Municipal Court is a summary court under the authority of the unified court system of the State of South Carolina and as such adjudicates misdemeanor violations of city and state laws. The Municipal Court is subject to the directives of City Council and the South Carolina Courts Administration office.

Municipal Court is held Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m., and Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Jury trials are scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. as needed.

The Municipal Judges of the City are appointed by City Council for terms as determined by City Council. The Clerk of Court and Court Clerks are full-time employees of the City.
